Question:

Why do you wish to represent the citizens of the State of
Minnesota in the U.S. Senate?

Response:

I'm Roy Carlton. I grew up in Richfield, MN and graduated from Richfield
High School in 1975. I went on to graduate from Augsburg College with
majors in Accounting and Finance and a minor in economics. I have worked
as an accountant for 3 years. I'm in my 14th year of military service.
I'm an Army Captain at Ft. Snelling in the Army Reserves. I was awarded
the Minnesota Medal of Valor and the Valley Forge Cross for Heroism.

The reason I'm running for the Senate is I'm concerned about the future
of my country. We have two parties who consistently disregard the
constitution and the Bill of Rights. President Clinton now wants to drug
test all 16 year olds before they receive a driver's license. The EPA
has proposed confiscation of all private property purchased with funds
connected to the operations of corporations accused of pollution. - Your
wages.

Neither the Republicans nor the Reform party want to reduce the size of
the Federal government. The Republicans want reduced growth - but growth
none the less.

I will fight to eliminate programs such as education and commerce. I
intend to introduce sunset legislation which will further eliminate
programs that are out dated.

I believe the State and local government is best suited to providing
services to the citizens.

I believe that charitable organizations such as the United Way, Meals on
Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity can provide for people in need better
than the federal government.

I would eliminate the IRS and the Federal income tax. This would
strengthen the family by allowing one member to stay home to raise the
children.

I would not only address the annual deficit but the debt as well. Last
year's deficit was $144 billion but the debt increased by $288 billion
thanks to borrowing from social security and medicare trust funds.

Minnesota deserves better and stronger representation. I have the
experience and the will to provide that reputation.
