Question 1: Many alternatives to the existing education system have been proposed; including charter schools, vouchers and private sector involvement. Do you favor any of these approaches, or do you have specific proposals to strengthen the current system?
One important element to our children's future is the quality of the education they receive, but also the fiscal security we leave them. My education proposals will be fully funded within the existing budget. It's very simple, we need to invest our tax dollars in our children's future, not in projects like a new professional sports stadium, the Stillwater Bridge or a new airport that we don't need and can't afford. Later this year, I will be releasing a detailed budget that will show how, as governor, I will redirect funds to the things that matter the most. My proposals will not be funded by the surplus, or any other method that threatens to leave our children with a fiscally bankrupt future. Thank you very much Ted Mondale questions@tedmondale.org
