Frank Germann Response 4
Question 4: Specifically, how much money is it worth to keep the Twins baseball franchise in Minnesota, and what will you do as governor regarding the public financing of sports arenas?
The people of the state of Minnesota have demonstrated repeatedly that they do not want taxpayer funding of a baseball stadium. I resent having the media continue bringing this up. If the Twins want to go, they should go. If they want to stay, they should stay. If they stay, they should pay for their own stadium. The Libertarian party has been in the forefront of the effort to shoot down any public (tax) funding of the stadium. This is a dead issue. As governor, I will veto any public financing of sports stadiums or arenas.
