Ken Pentel Response 2
Question 2: Evaluate the performance of the press in covering the on-going presidential scandal, the private lives of politicians, and please indicate whether or not you consider yourself a role model.
The media in this situation has simply played the role of cheerleader in a debate which most of the public is genuinely sick of, while at the same time we are being distracted from much more important issues facing our society and government. It is the job of the media to report news and current events, not to pry into the personal lives of public servants to the point where good, honest citizens will be discouraged from participating in our democratic electoral system out of fear for their private and personal lives. Anyone in a position of public attention is a role model to someone, whether you are a good one or a bad one. I did not start this campaign specifically thinking about what type of role model I could be, I am simply working for the causes which I truly believe in.
