IOWA E-DEMOCRACY - GET INVOLVED
Would you like to help establish a non-partisan group of Iowans interested in improving participation in democracy in Iowa through information networks? Iowa E-Democracy is a proposed effort.  It is shaping itself as a volunteer organization with participation from across the political spectrum along with  co-sponsoring organizations to promote project activities.

HELP CO-SPONSOR THIS DISCUSSION
This discussion forum will be an important online public space if Iowans planning to attend caucuses participate.  Therefore media, civic, educational, government and political web sites are welcome to co-sponsor and link to this forum. Candidates, political parties, and non-tax-exempt political groups are encouraged to link and participate, but may not be listed as official co-sponsors to maintain the option of legal non-profit status for an Iowa E-Democracy organization.

Behind the
Curtain

WHO IS REALLY BEHIND THIS?
So far over twenty people from across Iowa have come together to form an initial virtual working group.  In July 1999, volunteers involved with Minnesota E-Democracy came to Iowa  and shared their ideas and experiences to help develop an authentically Iowan effort.

Midwest prairie politics mix with the Internet in interesting ways - let's build an interactive model for the rest of the country.  In the end a core Iowa volunteer group must have people from across the political spectrum who work together to build a trusted, neutral host for interaction on Iowa issues and politics.

We have had a great time with our MN-POLITICS forum since 1994 and more recently with the new Minneapolis Issues Forum.  So the secret agenda of this outreach effort is to use interest in the Iowa caucuses to spur development of an ongoing effort in Iowa to host online political interaction that matters.
