Context:
Everyone is effected by medicare. Elderly citizens receive
benefits after having paid into the system through their work years.
Middle aged and young folks pay into the system with the expectation that
there will be a return on this investment. However, with the changing
economy and the greying of the baby boomer generation, it has been said
medicare is in serious trouble. As is, it will be difficult to assist
the boomers and even harder to assist the generations after the boomers.
Yet younger generations continue to pay into the system to assist those
currently eligible.
Question:
Please explain what, if anything, is wrong with medicare and
what needs to be done to fix it.
