Question:

Please review your general ideas about the economy and contrast these
with those of your opponent(s).

Response:

The question should be what can we do that will strengthen the economy
and expand opportunities for jobs and improving the lives of Americans.

My first goal would be to reduce or eliminate the capital gains tax. now
President Clinton and Senator Wellstone will tell you that only the rich
will benefit from a capital gains tax cut. But what the
Clinton/Wellstone team ignore is that not only rich people own houses,
not only rich people invest in IRA's and make plans for future retirement,
not only rich have retirement plans provided by their companies and labor
unions which invest their funds in the stock market.

What you would do by cutting or eliminating the capital gains tax is
unleash a torrent of investment which is blocked because investors can
not afford to pay the capital gains tax. The expansion of the U.S.
economy would be so great that not even Senator Wellstone could screw it
up. You would see investors taking their money out of dormant assets and
investing into new plant and equipment and other revenue producing
assets. You would also get a rapid expansion of jobs in this country.
You would also attract investments from foreign corporations in plant and
equipment as well.

I would support abolishing the Federal Income tax. you would encourage
people to work by allowing them to keep more of their wages. You would
also strengthen the family by allowing one parent the opportunity to stay
home and raise their children.

I would also examine the vast array of regulations that are being hoisted
upon Corporate America, and eating the capital that could be used to
expand the economy. I have a vision for a better and more prosperous
America. The Clinton/Wellstone team have no vision for expanding
opportunity for growth of the American economy.
