Q: (Channel 4000)
Would you support the establishment of a government regulatory agency to
patrol the Internet for such things as obscenity, libel, copyright
infringement and other abuses?

A: (Dean Barkley)
Obviously the Internet is fast becoming the world's information highway.
With this development comes the responsibility of insuring that the
system is not abused. Obscenity and child pornography enforcement is now
being done by appropriate law enforcement agencies.

At this time I would not support the creation of a new agency whose sole
responsibility if the Internet. I believe that we have the capabilities
to handle the problems with existing government agencies. If the problems
do become to large to handle as now structured, I would prefer to have an
agency such as the FCC take over the task.
